About a week ago (Feb. 5), a major water line leak was discovered on Skyline Drive. Straight Creek Construction was hired to fix the leak. Kevin Buckley informed a citizen that the job was a mess and that  the line that was leaking would need to be replaced. The job was substantial and would cost a lot of money, according to Kevin Buckley. Town employee, Brian Carlson showed up and basically clamped the leak. He said that the problem was prevelant in town, that he had to do the same thing on previous occasions. Straight Creek Construction filled the hole and now everything appears to be fine.

We're really glad we didn't end up with another Spring Street nightmare.

Why did our town employee know to clamp the pipe, but Kevin Buckley of Straight Creek Construction only suggested replacing the whole pipe, which of course would've meant many hours and lots of work for his company?

(2/24/04) Interim Town Administrator Selby Meyers thought that Kevin Buckley was only explaining the worst case scenario to the citizen. According to Selby, the issue was in being able to have enough room to get a clamp around the pipe. If it would've been necessary to access the leak at a different point of access, he said that it would've required 2-3 days of work.
