Tom Bennhoff will now be remembered as a man who abused his position as our town Mayor -misleading the town administrator when he told him that our town had already worked on and discussed the IGA (not!) and unilaterally spent town funds to have our town attorney draft the document, without board approval. So much for Tom Bennhoff touting "open government"!
Lee Behrens has now proven that he will disregard the rights of Georgetown citizens and his comrades on the town Board of Selectmen to serve his CHS interests -letting other governmental bodies amend and vote on a Town legal document that he knows our town has never discussed.
What are the policies of the BOS regarding: Who puts together the agenda? (It's different with every Mayor, so it would be good to get updated), Who can direct the town attorney to draft legal documents? (shouldn't this have been approved by the BOS?), What expectations do they have regarding Resolutions -(especially of this magnitude)?
The CHS/Railstar contract DOES NOT indicate a 3% share of the tickets to the communities.
The idea is to "tax" a business that is legally exempt from tax in order to pay for the impact of not being able to collect the taxes. Does this mean that we should impose an impact fee on any business that sells gas (tax exempt) in town? Or how about we impose an impact fee on Historic Georgetown, Inc. for all of the property that they own and don't pay taxes on?
