Why are Carlson Elementary school parents allowed to distribute flyers (which do include misinformation) while Georgetown Elementary parents are told that they may not distribute flyers at Georgetown Elementary School? Not allowing the distribution of these flyers is a violation of school board policies and State law.
The BOE says that we are in a budget crisis but yet don't feel inclined to stop purchasing bottled water and providing meals for their meetings. How many of you on other volunteer boards take money from your budget to provide these amenities for yourself? After millions of dollars spent on the Middle School renovations you'd think the water would be safe enough to drink and they wouldn't need to buy bottled water.
Why wasn't the closure of King Murphy Elementary ever considered?
Why is Idaho Springs attacking Georgetown? Don't they know that we STILL know that there will be issues for our school district that we very much care about and have vested interests in? We care about what happens with their schools, too.
Why was a principal allowed to sit with the Board at a recent School Board meeting?
Georgetown Elementary has already sacrificed - by not having a principal!
Closing Georgetown Elementary means closing Georgetown! -Who will move here without a school? What about the effect of this on our businesses? -can they afford any more revenue hits after cut backs at the mine and the diminished Loop capacity?
How does this affect the local homeowner? Not having a school in town could mean a loss of 10% in property value!

Save Georgetown Elementary
It appears as though Georgetown Elementary has
been give another reprieve. The community came together and spoke loudly and in unity on this subject. No small feat if you know anything about Georgetown! Currently, a local Charter School effort is under way to prepare for what is sure to be school closures in near future budget years.
